Whether it’s because of its reputation, beaches, attractions or the glitz and glamour of its celebrities, Marbella is already a must-visit destination in summer. With a long list of famous beach clubs, restaurants, boutique hotels, golf courses and night clubs, it isn’t easy to know where to go. But help is at hand from Vanity Fair magazine that has just published a list of must-dos this summer in Marbella.

According to the article, Marbella is “famous for a lifestyle that makes summer holidays seem to last forever”. And to make your summer as long as possible, it suggests visiting a long list of typically summer spots.

Did you know? Rio Real Golf opened in 1965 just when the resort was starting to appear as a summer destination for the rich and famous from the world of film, sport, arts and nobility. Read more about the history of Rio Real here.

First stop – the beach

First on the list, as summery as they come and with a truly Marbella touch, Trocadero Arena beach club. According to Vanity Club, it enjoys “a privileged spot in Marbella on the beach at Rio Real”. It’s on one of the best summer beaches and just in front of the 4th and 5th on the Rio Real golf course.

Where better to enjoy a bit of summer relaxation? Next to the Mediterranean and with Africa on the horizon, grab your lounger and enjoy the sound of the waves, that special Marbella sunshine and a Trocadero signature cocktail.

Did you know? Guests at Río Real Hotel get a lounger at Trocadero Arena (first-line beach no less) and a welcome cocktail. And with free transport from the Hotel to the beach you’re there in a flash.

Next stop this summer in Marbella

There’s never a shortage of things to do during the Marbella summer season and the Vanity Fair suggestions run long. They include more beach clubs such as Naopoolclub, run by Olivia Valere, or the younger Playa Padre. If you fancy something with a little more history, Vanity Fair proposes the Ocean Club. It started life as Club La Siesta, one of the pioneers along with Rio Real Golf during the first years of the Marbella jet set back in the 60s.

After the beach, the magazine moves to another essential part of the Marbella summer scene: night time. It names several emblematic venues such as the Suite Club and Mosh, all favourites with the rich and famous, and the not so rich and famous too who flock to the most exclusive resort on the Costa del Sol.

Did you know? All this coming and going can be tiring. For some time out during this ever-lasting summer, spend a quiet afternoon next to the pool at Rio Real. A lounger with mountain views as you watch the sunset, a cocktail in your hand and a live DJ in the background. How good does that sound?

Where everyone’s a celebrity

The stories of the rich and famous in Marbella could fill volumes but to see a summary, just pop along to the corridors at Rio Real Boutique Hotel. Here you’ll find a procession of A-list celebrities who visited the hotel. Among the men, King Juan Carlos, Julio Iglesias, Sean Connery, Yves Montand… And among the women, Lisa Minelli, Brigitte Bardot, Lola Flores…

As Vanity Fair says, they all found their “paradise on earth” when they spent never-ending summers in Marbella. Why not discover yours this summer in Marbella? See you there!
