If you’ve visited Marbella, you’ll already know that the resort is a shining star in gastronomy on the Costa del Sol. Marbella restaurants fly the flag high for the best in Mediterranean cuisine with local produce taking centre stage on the menu. The latest arrival to check out when you’re next in Marbella is El Club at Rio Real, a new look for the restaurant in the golf course’s emblematic boutique hotel.

What’s new at El Club

Golf players and guests at Rio Real will already be familiar with the restaurant at the resort, renowned for its fine cuisine and stunning setting. The venue has some of the best views in any of the Marbella restaurants with a frontline position on the golf course and sweeping vistas of the Sierra Blanca mountains and the Mediterranean on the southern horizon.

In addition to the glorious views, the restaurant gets a new name – El Club – in keeping with the hallmark of traditional at Rio Real, one of the most emblematic golf courses on the Costa del Sol. Diners can expect exclusivity and elegance at the venue where tropical plants make the space something of an oasis and reflect the verdant greenery on the immaculate course outside.

See those manicured greens for yourself.

Dining takes place inside and out. The interiors combine tropical greenery with light and space – book a table with a view for the ultimate in dining experiences. Outside on the terrace, you can enjoy the best vistas stretching across the golf course and to the mountains and sea. Time your meal for sundown for a truly memorable meal.

What’s on the menu

El Club takes traditional Andalusian cooking as its base and add a modern twist to the dishes. Hotel guests and golfers can enjoy breakfast, lunch and evening meals, and all have brand-new menus. Breakfast options come healthy and hearty – perfect for a day on the golf course just outside. The lunch menu combines light snacks with more substantial dishes for those with an appetite.

In the evening, El Club comes into its own with something for everyone including vegetarians and those with intolerances. For starters, the spicy gambas pil-pil that you’ll find on many menus at Marbella restaurants gets an upgrade with king prawns. Spain’s renowned acorn Iberian cured ham also features alongside the more exotic gyozas and a traditional cold ajo blanco soup with the decidedly modern touches of coconut and smoked sardines.

When it comes to mains, choose from rice dishes including the popular paella, cooked in traditional style, and the luxurious treat of creamy lobster rice. The fish and meal dishes take local produce as their base. Diners have the choice of three fish staples plus the fresh fish of the day, usually caught locally. Meat dishes include retinta beef, known for its tender succulent cuts and produced in nearby  Cadiz province.

Those with a sweet tooth will be spoilt for choice on the dessert menu. Again, traditional meets modern to make the perfect combination in several treats. The millefeuille comes with crunchy honey, mascarpone cream and red berry confit while the souffle has dulce de leche as its base. Cheese fans will love the Finca Pascualete cheeseboard that includes award-winning cheeses from this farm in Extremadura in southwest Spain.

Opened to great acclaim

El Club opened officially on 15 August this year with an evening of live music, tropical cocktails and the signature Marbella balmy temperatures. The opening was very well attended and diners were unanimous in their acclaim of this new venue at Rio Real golf course, a great new addition to Marbella restaurants.
