TOP GOLF PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2018

Another golf season has just started and with it a clutch of rising stars, some of whom are set to take the golfing world by storm. Expect a year of surprises at many major tournaments as some of the world’s lesser known golfers rise to the top. Read our guide to the top golf players to watch in 2018.

Jon Rahm

The Spaniard had his first full season as a professional last year and notched up one of the best seasons in history. He debuts at the Ryder Cup in France this year and as Golf Shake predicts, he “could easily finish the year as the world’s top-ranked player”.

Ollie Schneiderjaus

He belongs to the so-called Class of 2011 along with Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth (see below) and golf analysts are betting on his first PGA tour win this year. He’s already been the world’s number one amateur golf, so why not?

Justin Thomas

American Thomas had a spectacular year in 2017 and based on his wins last year, experts are predicting more of the same in 2018. And he’s started the year as he means to go on.

Rory McIlroy

McIlroy was plagued by injury in 2017 but after three months’ recovery the Northern Irishman is back on form. He has set himself the target of winning The Masters in April, a victory that would complete his majors titles.

Jordan Spieth

The world’s best putter had an amazing 2017 when he proved that he can hit the right shot when it matters most. Analysts believe 2018 will be just as good if not better for the American.

Paul Dunne

He notched up some extraordinary golf in 2017 – he led the British Open after 54 holes. He went on to win the British Masters with a impressive final score of 61. Expect great things from Dunne this year too.

Tommy Fleetwood

The number one player in Europe who may shine even brighter on the world golf stage in 2018. He succeeded in the Race to Dubai and golf experts believe he has the talent to repeat the prowess this year.

Tiger Woods

We’ve been watching Woods for years and been disappointed over his continual injuries. If he can keep the injuries at bay and play on form as he did towards the end of 2017, he may well go on to win his 15th major title this year.

Aditi Ashok

She might be just 19 years old, but Ashok has taken women’s golf by storm. She has won the Ladies European Tour no less than three times. Expect to hear a lot about her this year.

Georgia Hall

The British player won the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit and begins her rookie season on the LPGA this year. Experts believe that this is the year Hall will take off on the women’s golfing arena.
