SEASONAL DIFFERENCES WHEN YOU PLAY GOLF IN MARBELLA

If you regularly play golf in Marbella, you’ll be aware that despite the year-round sunshine there are some differences between the seasons. Playing a round at the height of summer often differs greatly from a game in the middle of winter. Now that we’re at the height of the summer, lets take a look at how this season affects your golf.

Ideal temperatures

Golfers who play in Northern Europe are more than used to widely varying temperatures on the course throughout the year. Courses in many countries stay open all year round and players have to learn to adapt their technique to the cold and the heat.
Play golf in Marbella, however, and it’s a different story altogether. With 320 days of sunshine a year and average temperatures that rarely drop below 14 degrees or rise above 30, the resort offers ideal conditions for playing golf.
Did you know? According to the experts, the ideal temperature to play golf is between 21 and 32 degrees.

More summer distance

Warmer, drier conditions help the golf ball travel further so if you play golf in Marbella during the summer months, you’re likely to get more out of your swing. Some golfers put the difference down to as much as 2 metres per 10 degrees of temperature. So, if it’s 30 degrees on the golf course in Marbella, your shot has the potential to fly 2 metres further than at 20 degrees.
But don’t forget to factor in the wind, one of the most challenging weather aspects for golfers. If it’s blowing hard, then your shot won’t necessarily go further even in the summer.

More summer roll

Drier conditions also mean the ball travels further when it lands on the ground. Rolling that extra few centimetres can do wonders to keep your ball out of the rough or edge it that bit nearer the hole. Compared to the winter when the ground tends to be wetter and spongier, summer conditions can be a real advantage.
