If you’re thinking about a summer holiday in Marbella, you’ll be interested to know where to find the best beaches. The good news is that Rio Real Golf & Hotel has one of them right on the doorstep. Even better news is that you’ll be near some of the 17 blue-flag beaches on the Costa del Sol this year. Read on for a guide to where to find them.

Best beaches in Marbella

As the jewel in the crown, Marbella has plenty to offer for a great summer holiday. When it comes to fabulous beaches, the resort has claimed three blue flags this year. Casablanca, El Faro and Guadalmina beaches are all flying the accolade. El Faro beach lies right in the centre of Marbella, while Casablanca and Guadalmina are to the west.

The Marbella coastline stretches for a long way and most of it is sandy. If you’re looking for family-friendly beaches on the Costa del Sol, be sure head for the sands on the west side of the resort. Stretching between El Cable and Elviria (Rio Real is in the middle), these beaches offer fine sand and safe bathing.

Best beaches in Estepona

If you fancy exploring a little further outside Marbella, you’ll find some great beaches in Estepona. The resort has two blue flags this year, at El Cristo beach and Arroyo Vaquero. Both are easy to get to from Rio Real.

El Cristo beach forms a sandy bay and is a favourite with families. Arroyo Vaquero is one of the least-spoilt beaches on the Costa del Sol and not as busy during high season. Both these Estepona beaches lie to the west of the town centre.
